Training of Trainers
Training Programmes for Community Health Workers, Midwives, and Traditional Birth Attendants
The Foundation for Mother & Child Health has instituted a very successful training of trainers programme. The programme aims to train key health workers working in local projects on topics such as nutrition; health and hygiene; immunization of children; anthropometrics – specifically how to measure and weigh children accurately; breastfeeding & childcare skills; and communication skills. The programme was initially concentrated in various neighbourhoods of Jakarta, but has now expanded to areas outside Jakarta and to West Timor.
Feedback from these training courses has been excellent and further courses continue to be organised each year allowing community health workers the benefits of updating their clinical, theoretical and communication skills.
The training is offered to different target audiences such as local midwives, traditional birth attendants and community health workers and is provided by FMCH doctors, visiting overseas doctors, and FMCH Health Educators.
